Well done to the Swisscom team for hosting such an impactful event last week at the Hallenstadion, Zurich. Urs Lehner, Head of Business Customers - Swisscom opened the day with a warm welcome followed by Julian Dömer, Head of IoT Swisscom discussing IoT Trends and Insights in Switzerland. No surprise that Julian highlighted some great products and business cases that brought IoT into the swiss market.
In Switzerland Swisscom IoT Day is a priority event on the national calendar to kick off the year together with partners and customers paving the way for the year ahead. If you come from the IoT industry in Switzerland then this is the event for you. We must warn you that tickets are limited and often much sought after so register in advance because there is always a full house at this event.
“Unlocking IoT Potential” by Tony Shakib, General Manager Azure IoT, Microsoft set the upbeat tone for the day. Tony went onto discuss technology for the betterment of humanity and elaborated on how Microsoft is built on trust, a value that we uphold strongly at Akenza. Providing a peace of mind for customers is an important part of how they do business at Microsoft and keeping things safe and secure which is always a hot topic when discussing the advancement of IoT.
Here’s our CEO Vikram Bhatnagar and our CMO Suki Dusanj - Lenz with the Microsoft team.
Akenza provided multiple live demos at their booth which proved a success for drop-in participants. With so much content available during the keynote and breakout sessions delegates went home enriched and most certainly networked.
Chris Dancy was one of the final speakers from the day and he made a clear point that technology is shaping around us and not us around it.
The words of Douglas Engelbert were mentioned as were R. Lickeder, notable psychologist and computer scientist “The hope is that in not too many years, human brains and computing machines will be coupled together very tightly, and that the resulting partnership will think as no human brain has ever thought and process data in a way not approached by the information-handling machines we know today” (1958 - Licklider)
At Akenza we are often heard saying that the “Way the World Talks Has Changed”. It is only when we take a look at historical visionaries that these words ring more true.
Thank you to all those that helped put this event together and especially to the guests that joined us at our booth. We look forward to seeing you all next year for Swisscom IoT Day 2021!
